Search engines have gotten smarter, algorithms have gotten hard to workaround. The search engines are able to determine a content site’s importance, or the number of backlinks, based on the text, and not the images. If you are selling a product, the images are useless. All you need to do is type in your product into the search bar, and then click on the category and you will be able to see how many links you have coming to your site.
All you need to do next is type your keywords into the search bar, and watch the number of backlinks rise.
However there is a way to find out how many people are actually searching for your page, and this requires you to have your site listed on social networking sites.
I will be using a fictitious business name for the example, however, you can use any name you wish. Let's say that our fictitious business is “Hotels In Las Vegas”. We have a page on social networking sites that has 10,000 backlinks.
Now you would want to check the sites like Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask.
You will want to look for your page at some point, especially since there might be more than one page that is showing. If you find your site, then you know you made it. If you don’t, well you are in luck I suppose.
One important note to this process is to only put your page in those sites with high amounts of content. Meaning, you do not necessarily need to have your entire page on every site, if it looks as though you have your complete page on too many sites it will hurt your results. It will also look as though you are spamming to get your links in, which will not help your results. You want to make sure that you get a good amount of links on all the sites you are putting your content on to.
Also, one important thing to note is if the site is from a different domain than you, then you may get more links there too.
There is a great deal of competition out there, meaning that there will people willing to trade links with you. The key to this whole process is to get quality links and then get some on-site content. The links will come in a variety of ways, they will come in from directories like DMOZ, and Yahoo, but they will also come from the many sites that have a link to your website. The great news is that the competition is very low and the results are high.
